Grand Master's Gavel Capture Rules
- The gavel may NOT be captured by any Visiting Lodge which is already in possession of another state-wide Traveling Gavel and requires three or more members of a Visiting Lodge to attend a Stated Meeting of the Lodge in possession of the gavel to capture it.
- The gavel is only available for capture after the it has been in possession of a Capturing Lodge for fourteen days.
- If this gavel leaves the State of Oklahoma, it is to be returned to Creekmore Lodge #74 at any time it remains unclaimed by another Lodge for 60 days.
- If two or more Visiting Lodges are in attendance at a Stated Meeting of the Lodge in possession of the gavel and have the required minimum of three or more members present, then the award of the gavel will be determined in the following order:
- Visiting Lodge with the most members present captures the gavel
- If still unable to determine a winner, then the Visiting Lodge which has traveled the furthest distance (Google Maps is final authority) will win the gavel.
- The Capturing Lodge must complete the Log of Possession which accompanies the gavel.
- The Capturing Lodge must notify Creekmore Lodge #74 and the OKMasonMail newsletter of the capture of the gavel within three days of capture and include the date of capture.
- Should the Capturing Lodge obtain another state-wide Traveling Gavel after the capture of the 2024 Grand Master’s Traveling Gavel, then the gavel must be returned as soon as possible to Creekmore Lodge #74.
- The Traveling Gavel must be returned to Creekmore Lodge #74 if it has been in possession of a Capturing Lodge for 60 days since the date of capture.
